The twelfth house is not always prominent in the birthchart. It is here that all the work behind the scenes goes on. The twelfth house shows dreams remain dreams or whether they become reality. This secret nature of us all can hold us back, for we may dream and do nothing, or it can be our motivation in life, for we can allow our dreams to inspire us. Through this part of the chart, the private affairs of our lives, our need to escape, our self-deception and our subconscious memories are hidden. Here these things guide us, quietly, without us realising (sometimes). Here we can connect with ourselves, or not, as the case may be. Planets placed here have their own effect. Venus placed here could indicate love from afar - for we may keep desires and loves to ourselves. Mars could mean secret enemies whilst Saturn suggests working in seclusion. Some planets may trigger the secret needs, the darkest desires, whilst others will suppress them, frustrating us giving a sense of not belonging. Seclusion is often indicated, a need to escape public view is necessary. Don't force the twelfth house into the limelight - it can do more harm than good. Planets transiting or progressing through the twelfth house are getting ready to complete the most important cycle in astrology - the crossing of the Ascendant. The period in which the planet in question takes to traverse this house is often a period of calm and reflection, particularly in connection with the concerns of the planet. For example, Saturn will require contemplation of ambitions, of careers and how we want to improve our lives. Jupiter suggests a need to understand our faith and beliefs. Not just a stepping stone to somewhere else, the twelfth house allows to mellow, meditate and understand. It provides the secret motivation behind our lives - the force behind the force. |
